Pardon My French [Press]

I've officially labeled myself with OCD—obsessive coffee drinking. I try to keep it to just one nice-sized cup in the morning, but sometimes I'll indulge in an afternoon coffee as well. For me this obsession is not so much about the quantity of coffee, but the quality of what I drink. And from April to October, I pretty much only drink iced coffee. I'm a snob like that.

More importantly, few people know that if you own a French Press, a superior cup of home-brewed iced coffee is yours to be had. I generally use the French Press on the weekends when I have a little more time, but I recently discovered it's a fantastic (and effortless) way to create your own cold brew coffee. All you need to do is add your coffee grinds and water as you normally would to the carafe, but do not press down on the plunger. Leave it in the fridge overnight with the lid on. Some people prefer to leave it out on the counter. I didn't taste a difference when I did this, and since I don't like adding so much ice, I rather the coffee be cold when I'm ready to drink it.
Eight hours later, I promise you will have the best cold-brew coffee you ever made at home. And FWIW, I'm convinced Trader Joe's French Roast is some of the best ground coffee I've had. It's all about mixing that high and low. Other favorites include La Colombe, Oren's and Irving Farm.
Enough chit chat. Pass the milk, will you? (Preferably one of these!)
